All Yellow

January 6, 2012

After several years of experiment with watercolor I was thinking do we have to paint on a white paper always? Yes of course some artists do watercolor on textured paper (like printed page), they are only a part of mixed media art. But can’t we do watercolor on a tinted paper? The technique will be the same traditional way, only the color of paper has changed. Which color is suitable for what atmosphere? Have you tried before? I didn’t. so here is an experiment. I painted a few landscapes on yellow tinted paper. To me result is surprising. I shall continue this with various papers and various subjects. Hope you will also enjoy it. If you don’t like it, just think you are watching some monochrome watercolor putting a yellow glass on your eyes!

  1. Here it is an old technique, first coloring your paper and then paint in watercolor. Your result is
    very nice. Good work!!!
